Prof. Wassong als Gutachter für das IOC

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Stephan Wassong, Leiter des Instituts für Sportgeschichte und des Zentrums für Olympische Studien, ist in diesem Jahr erneut als Gutachter für das „Advanced Olympic Research Grant Programme" des Internationalen Olympischen Komitees (IOC) benannt worden.

Bereits im letzten Jahr hat das Olympic Studies Centre des IOC, welches das Programm organisiert, ihn als Gutachter für das 2014 neu installierte Förderungsprogramm ausgewählt.  

Hauptziel des Programmes ist es, Forschungsprojekte aus den Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften finanziell zu fördern, die sich mit vom IOC identifizierten Themengebieten beschäftigen. Die Förderinitiative richtet sich an UniversitätsprofessorInnen, DozentInnen und wissenschaftliche MitarbeiterInnen, die ihre Promotion abgeschlossen haben und während des gesamten Projektzeitraums an einer akademischen Forschungseinrichtung angestellt sind. Prof. Dr. Stephan Wassong, Head of the Institute for Sport History and Academic & Managing Director of the Olympic Studies Centre Cologne, has been selected as reviewer of the “Advanced Olympic Research Grant Programme” of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Already in 2014, when the programme was launched for the first time, the Olympic Studies Centre of the IOC had chosen him as reviewer to evaluate selected applications.   

The IOC-programme aims to promote advanced research projects in the humanities and social sciences, which deal with topics identified by the IOC. University professors, lecturers and research fellows who hold a doctorate and work at an academic or research institution are eligible to apply for the grant.
