Datum: 15.-16. Dezember 2017

Veranstaltungsort: Senatssaal der Deutschen Sporthochschule Köln

Europe and China cooperate since several years in the fields of politics, economy and culture. A growing awareness of changes in sport has fostered a communication and an exchange which reinforced cross-border activities in sport. Therefore, the sport science academic conference Changing sports development: China and Europe was held by the Institute of European Sport Development and Leisure Studies of the German Sport University and Beijing Sport University with the aim to provide a platform for researchers from both countries to communicate, discuss and cooperate.

Participants were researchers and experts from various universities in China and Germany as well as organisation executives. The discussions covered perspectives and constrains of Chinese Football Development, case studies from different sports and urban case studies. The chinese researchers introduced the current situation of Chinese football and analysed the difficulties and problems during the recent development process. A heated discussion was then raised about the future of Chinese football and which lessons the Chinese football could learn from the development of German football.Other sport disciplines and the items of elite sports and mass sport development were covered during the conference as well.

Following the conference, universities and institutions showed a deep interest in establishing cooperations in order to promote Chinese-German interaction. These activities can be seen as a starting point for further and lasting cooperations.
