Call for Papers

The following priority areas for the proposals have been identified:

• Biographies in sport in transition
• Career paths and life trajectories in sport
• Actors in sport: athletes, coaches, referees, medical personnel 
• Social groups in sport and their change
• Success and failure in professional sports
• Professionalization in sport
• Changing social conditions and working conditions in sports
• Representation of interests in sport
• Socio-demographic structures in sport
• Concepts, approaches and methods for the history of individuals and collectives in sport

We invite CESH members and non-members to submit paper and/or panel proposals that analyse these or related fields and topics. Paper and panel proposals will be reviewed by an Academic Committee.

Submission

For paper proposals:

• Submit a one-page abstract (all-inclusive) with standard margins
• Abstract should include: title, research objectives/questions, methodology, sources and material, results

For panel proposals:

• Submit a 350-word abstract for the panel plus one abstract (as per the format above) per paper.
• Please also include the nominated panel convenor and panel chair.
• It is requested that panel proposals are gender-diverse.

Deadline for paper and panel proposals is June 15th, 2023.
