For an open-minded university & society

Position statement of the senate of the German Sport University regarding the planned introduction of tuition fees for non-EU students: For an open-minded university and society - no tuition fees for students from non-EU states.

The senate of the German Sport University rejects the planned introduction of tuition fees for students from non-EU states and emphasises the importance of a fair, state-related financing of education.

The German Sport University supports the idea of an open-minded, tolerant society based on mutual responsibility and is thus opposed to tuition fees for students from non-EU states.

In order to contribute to a sustainable, peaceful and democratic world, international scientific exchange in research and teaching is vital.

The intended tuition fees will not resolve the issue of lacking financial ressources for universities. Furthermore tuition fees would have the effect of preventing potential students from abroad to study at GSU. This would undermine the internationalisation strategy of our university.

The senate of the German Sport University is concerned that the introduction of tuition fees for non-EU citzens could lead to discrimination and limit the cultural diversity of its students.
