Franco-German sports relations in the focus of a new publication with Stephan Klemm
and Martin Beils

"The Night of Seville" is one of the most mythical games of the 20th century. The battle to reach the final, the early German lead and the French equalizer, Toni Schumacher's foul on Patrick Battiston, the fabulous comeback in extra time, Klaus Fischer's spectacular overhead kick, and finally the dramatic penalty shootout - this semifinal of the 1982 World Cup offered numerous twists and turns and punchlines. In his recently published book, Stephan Klemm shows how this match has shaped the memory and the Franco-German relationship in soccer.

The publication will be presented in the presence of the author Stephan Klemm by Martin Beils (journalist and head of public relations, Ministry of the Interior NRW) after introductory words by Prof. Dr. Mittag.
