New Publication: Orientation framework “Global Development for Secondary Level II” in collaboration with the GSU
The “Orientation Framework for Global Development” (OR) is the result of cooperation between the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It was implemented and coordinated by Engagement Global.
The OR – Education for Sustainable Development in Upper Secondary Schools was adopted by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK) on October 16, 2025, and offers recommendations for integrating education for sustainable development (ESD) into everyday teaching in upper secondary schools. It supports the development of education plans and teaching programs and promotes a school-wide approach to implementing ESD. The framework was developed in collaboration with over 180 experts and includes concrete didactic approaches for 17 subjects.
Prof. Dr. Karen Petry and Dr. Fabienne Bartsch are co-authors of the chapter on “Sport.”
The new Global Development Orientation Framework (available for download and a link to pre-order the book), further information, accompanying materials, and an invitation to an online training series on the new orientation framework can be found here: https://www.engagement-global.de/de/orientierungsrahmen.
