M.A. Olympic Studies 2023-25 Open for Application

The Master of Arts Olympic Studies degree program, which is implemented by the German Sport University Cologne in cooperation with the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain), University of Canterbury (New Zealand), Kiel University (Germany), the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) and Aarhus University (Denmark) is open for applications for its 2023–2025 edition.

The programme offers a multi- and interdisciplinary approach to Olympic Studies. Its teaching contents about the diverse aspects of the Olympic Movement such as commercialisation, marketing, professionalisation, politicisation, internationalisation, athletes’ representation, administration and peace-building efforts are substantially linked with the Olympic Values as well as sport ethical and educational considerations.

The M.A. Olympic Studies is a fully accredited Master´s degree, which is structured as a 2-year part-time programme. This allows participants to continue their occupational obligations while being involved in the programme. The knowledge provided in the M.A. Olympic Studies can be directly transferred to the respective daily working practices of participants from National Olympic Committees, for example educational, organisational, administrative and communication projects. This is a clear benefit of the M.A. Olympic Studies.

The next intake of the M.A. Olympic Studies will start in September 2023, with the application deadline being the 28th of February 2023.  For further information and to apply, please visit www.dshs-koeln.de/olympicstudies or contact the Executive Director of the M.A. Olympic Studies, Prof. Dr. Stephan Wassong (wassong@dshs-koeln.de) and Co-Director Daniel Quanz (d.quanz@dshs-koeln.de).
