M.Sc. Sports and Exercise Therapy, Prevention, and Exercise-Related Health Research (GERMAN)

Health requires physical activity! Sports and exercise therapy is gaining importance because it effectively combines prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation—supplemented by e-health, wearables, and innovative training and monitoring concepts that enable personalized interventions throughout the lifespan. The future of healthcare is therefore activity-oriented, data-driven, and digital.
Target group
The M.Sc. SBT is designed for students with a background in sports science or related fields such as physical activity and health, who are interested in the evidence-based
development and evaluation of interventions in health promotion, prevention, therapy, and rehabilitation, as well as physical activity-related health research.
Degree aim and content
In the M.Sc. SBT, students acquire a scientifically grounded skill set in sports and exercise therapy, prevention, and exercise-related health research. They learn to systematically assess physical, cognitive, and social functions and resources across the life span; to design interventions based on studies, reviews, and meta-analyses; and to implement, evaluate, and further develop these activities in a group-specific manner. This includes, among other things, the proper application of assessments and guidelines, training principles, as well as the planning of health-related research processes in prevention and rehabilitation, including data collection and analysis. Another focus is the critical and reflective use of digital technologies and AI—both technically and ethically.
Job perspectives
Graduates of the M.Sc. SBT work at the intersection of sports, therapy, prevention, and research—in the design, implementation, evaluation, and quality improvement
of exercise-related programs.
