Responsibilities

  • The IESF is responsible for the academic content, teaching materials, and the preparation and delivery of seminars and lectures of the Summer School.
  • Organizational support – including accommodation, catering, facilities, and excursions – is coordinated by the partner association ECSDA e.V. These measures support the smooth implementation of the program and enable participants to fully benefit from the academic opportunities offered.

Program

  • Each day consists of two academic teaching sessions, one in the morning and one in the early afternoon.
  • To provide a comprehensive understanding of sport, leisure, and society in Germany and Europe, the academic program is systematically supplemented by sport-practical activities and academically supervised excursions. These are closely linked to the modules, reinforcing and applying the knowledge gained.

  • All Summer School activities are conducted in English.
  • In some cases, additional Chinese translation may be provided to ensure active participation by all students.

Examination, Assessment and Certificate

  • At the end of the Summer School, participants complete a written examination covering the academic content taught.
  • Assessment takes into account the overall performance, including attendance, active participation, and examination results.
  • On this basis, the IESF of the German Sport University Cologne issues an certificate of achievement and participation, documenting both the academic content covered and the total workload.

Participation and Measures

  • All participants are required to attend lectures, sport-practical sessions, and the scheduled excursions on a regular basis.
  • For participants with sufficient language proficiency, additional access to seminars and lectures at the German Sport University Cologne may be provided.
Weekend activities or group excursions are embedded within the overall didactic framework and are designed to promote interdisciplinary collaboration within the group.
  • Instructions given by the responsible lecturers and academic supervisors are binding and ensure the structured and successful implementation of the academic program.
