Exercise Induced Muscle Damage and Signaling

Scientific Program
This symposium is designed to give an overview of the current level of scientific understanding regarding how mechanical and metabolic stimuli are involved in muscled damage. Cellular strategies how to handle these stressors just as signaling pathways and adaptations, will be discussed.

  • 9:15 Uhr Opening remarks
(Prof. Dr. Joachim Mester, The German Research Center of Elite Sport)
  • 9:30 Uhr “Eccentric exercise-induced muscle damage and adaptation”
(Prof. Dr. Kazunori (Ken) Nosaka, School of Exercise and Health Sciences, Edith Cowan University, Joondalup, WA, Australia)
  • 11 Uhr “Mechanobiology of muscle damage and adaptation” (Prof. Dr. Bloch, Dept. of Molecular and Cellular Sportsmedicine, German Sport University Cologne, Germany)
  • 12 Uhr Lunch break
  • 13 Uhr “Membrane blebbing in skeletal muscle cells – an emergency exit to prevent cell death?”
(Dr. Dr. Michael Behringer, Institute of Training Science and Sport Informatics, German Sport University Cologne, Germany)
  • 14 Uhr “Eccentric resistance training: effects on parameters of muscular adaptation and intracellular calcium handling
(Dr. Sebastian Gehlert, Dept. of Molecular and Cellular Sportsmedicine German Sport University Cologne, Germany)
  • 15 Uhr “Superimposed EMS during cycling: A new possibility to induce mild eccentric exercise”
(Dr. Patrick Wahl, Institute of Training Science and Sport Informatics, German Sport University Cologne, Germany)
