Graduation and Congratulations

Damaris Young Aranda, who is the President of the National Olympic Committee of Panama, has graduated from the international study porgramme M.A. Olympic Studies (https://www.dshs-koeln.de/studium/studienangebot/weiterbildungsmaster/ma-olympic-studies/) with a distinction. On 16 March, she received her academic transcripts, documents and the Pierre de Coubertin Graduation Medal at the German Sport University Cologne (GSU). The Olympic Studies Centre (OSC) (https://www.dshs-koeln.de/en/olympic-studies-centre/) of the GSU is organizing the part-time Master programme in collaboration with, amongst others, the Olympic Studies Centres of the Autonomous University of Barcelona and University of Canterbury, NZ. Damaris was also awarded a scholarship by Olympic Solidarity in order to participate within the programme. The photo linked with this article shows her together with Prof. Wassong, who is the Director of the OSC and M.A. Olympic Studies, in front of the statue of Zeus, which is located in the courtyard of the main hall of the German Sport University Cologne. As her graduation coincided with the delivery of intake 8’s 2nd module of the M.A. Olympic Studies, Damaris was invited to deliver a lecture on the topic of her master‘s thesis with the title The Sport Governance of Panamanian Sport Organizations: An Analysis from the Perspective of Compliance with the Basic Universal Pronviples of Good Governance for Olympic and Sport Organizations of the IOC.
