Project Description:

Since the early 1960s, German sports organizations have been promoting the development of sport in developing and emerging countries. As part of the DOSB's international sports promotion, more than 1,500 long-term and short-term measures have been carried out in over 130 countries worldwide to date.

Since December 2021, the DOSB has been implementing another long-term project to promote the sport of handball in Jordan in cooperation with a foreign expert and local partners. The aim of the project is to create necessary structures to promote handball. The focus is on training multipliers and advising associations and coaches, promoting the participation of girls and women in handball, and developing activities that improve social cohesion between the Jordanian population and refugees.

The projects are supported and strategically accompanied in their development by the Institute for European Sports Development and Leisure Research through scientific monitoring and the associated method-based evaluation. The following areas are covered by the monitoring: development of impact models, indicators and milestones; advice to the partners regarding the establishment of sustainable structures; preparation of M&E instruments (e.g. for impact measurement); evaluation of all surveys carried out; preparation of interim and overall reports as well as the final evaluation of the project implementation.
