Projektinhalt:
The  project “Recall: Games of the Past – Sports for Today”  by TAFISA and 12 partner organisations coming from all over Europe, is co-funded by the European Commission from the 1st of January 2014 to the 30th of June 2015 under the 2013 call for actions “European Partnerships on Sport”. The project now continues on its own will.

The Project Recall aims to reintroduce Traditional Sports and Games into the daily lives of young people as a means to tackle social challenges of today – including the epidemics of physical inactivity, by documenting and disseminating TSG heritage worldwide. At the final conference, TAFISA, MEP Kelly, UNICEF UK, the Youth Sport Trust and project Recall partners handed over to Yves Le Lostecque, Head of the Sport Unit at the European Commission, the “Recall Appeal on the Promotion and Re-introduction of Traditional Sports and Games into the Daily Lives of European Citizens”.

This appeal, in accordance with the European Physical Activity Guidelines 2008, UNESCO’s International Charter of Physical Education and Sport 1978, UNESCO’s Berlin Declaration 2013, UN’s Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2006 and Designed to Move Physical Activity Action Agenda, confirms and reinforces the importance of Traditional Sports and Games as a vehicle for European unity, integration, cultural diversity, peace and physical activity.

The project team member Dr. Michael Groll and his colleagues Dr. Malgorzata Bronikowska (Poland) and Jorma Savola (Finland) finished their contribution to the project with a peer reviewed paper about „Cultural aspects of Traditional Sports and Games“ which is published in the 3/2015 edition of the International Journal of Physical Education.

The project partners were: Gerlev Legepark (Denmark), Finnish Baseball Association (Finland),  Aquitaine Sport pour Tous (France), International Federation of Petanque and Provencal Game (France), Sport and Citizenship (France), ENGSO Youth (Germany), Institute of European Sport Development and Leisure Studies, German Sport University Cologne (Germany), TAFISA (Germany),     Hungarian Coaching Association (Hungary), Gaelic Athletic Association (Ireland), Institute of Technology Tralee (Ireland), European Physical Education Association (Luxembourg), Akademia Wychowania Fizycznego (University School of Physical Education, Poznan) (Poland), Portuguese Confederation of Culture, Recreation and Sport Collectivities (Portugal)
