2. Sommerschule

Rückblick

From July 16th to August 12th 2018, the 2nd Summer School of the Institute of European Sport Development and Leisure Studies (IESF) with 13 Chinese students from Tianjin University of Sport, Chengdu Sport Institute, and the School of sports leisure of Beijing Normal University Zhuhai took place.

During their stay, the 13 students were taught every day by professors and senior lecturers from the IESF in theoretical topics such as German Education and Sport system, Good Governance in sport, Leisure studies etc. In addition, together with research assistants from IESF, the 13 students approached empirical topics, such as sport participation, youth and leisure sport in Germany and in Europe as well as the Academic Writing. In these areas they experienced the level of bachelor or master students of the GSU.

The rest of the day, students got more practical experience by taking part in the traditional leisure sports, e.g. Jogging, Bicycle touring and Ninepin Bowling, as well as in the trend leisure sports e.g. spike ball, boulder and water skiing.

In order to be inspired by the German and European sports culture, a guided excursion was organized every weekend. From the German Sports and Olympic Museum to the German Football Museum, from the House of European History to the Council of the European Union, they feel the value of sport in the true lives of Germans and Europeans everywhere...

„Time flies! The month in Germany is such an unforgettable memory to me. 80.000.000 people, 16 states, not only these numbers will stay in my mind, but what I have learned from the lectures really has expanded my horizon. Lifestyle and sport, integration of immigrants from other countries, education and sport system etc., these lectures are so interesting for me!“

„After my sophomore year, I decided to attend the Summer School of IESF, where I have spent my time with greater intention and appreciation. I can´t believe that I make friends with local German students through playing basketball. Sport is not only body movement and it can do more to our society. After having got to know the study and student life in Germany while attending this summer school, I can already imagine that I will apply for a place to study at the GSU as soon as I have finished my Bachelor studies in China.“

„… Water skiing, this is the first time that I heard this word and have the chance to experience this water sport, which I greatly enjoyed. Our University is located in a city that is close to the south coast of China, and all kinds of water sports are very popular there. Now I see a gap where maybe I could fill by my strains. I would very much like to contribute to introducing this sport also to our city.“
