X-SUBA in cooperation with Sport 4 Development e.V. is looking for volunteers / interns to support the implementation of the project “Inclusive Sport Unites” for at least three months starting from April 2021. Apply now and experience Uganda!
X-SUBA is an acronym and stands for X-Street Uganda Basketball Academy. The NGO is based in Jinja, Uganda, and was founded in 2013. The aim of the measures is to mobilize disadvantaged children and adolescents in Uganda's municipalities through game and sport-based leisure activities and to strengthen their personal development. In addition to basketball, other sports such as football and netball are offered as well.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The recent inception of the one-year sports project “Inclusive Sport Unites” (ISU) targets children and young people with and without disabilities in Jinja, Uganda. Youth with disability mainly have hearing / visual impairments. The ISU project will be implemented by X-SUBA in collaborative support of Sport 4 Development e.V.. The aim is to use inclusive sports (football, netball and basketball) to positively influence children and adolescents between the ages of 8 and 18 in their personal development and the internal and external perception of disability. In addition, workshops are to be held in schools that address inclusion and disability, inform about it, educate and raise awareness.
●sporting activities: assisting the training sessions of various teams, possibly organizing and implementing events
●PR: communication with stakeholders and organizational partners, updating the social media platforms and the website, video- / photography
●Administrative responsibilities: reporting, support in M&E activities and accounting,
●Support in the implementation of educational workshops in schools
●The project may provide a unique platform for research, field and case studies or topics for a Bachelor/Master thesis
●passionate about sport (netball, soccer or basketball is desirable) and experiences in coaching sports
●linguistic skills: proficiency in spoken and written English; further language knowledge is desirable
●ability to assimilate and adapt quickly into new cultural environments
●project management experiences
●previous sport-for-development engagements are desired
●experience in working with youth with disability is desirable
