Job Summary: Committed to elevating communities through sports, we are dedicated to expanding our reach and impact. We are currently seeking passionate Fundraise Heroes to join us in our journey to forge new partnerships, rally support, and drive our mission to new heights.

Our idea is not to find one single person possessing all the skills necessary to raise funds across all channels. But rather to assemble a fundraising team with different skills and expertise to collaborate and complement each other. As our Fundraising Hero, you will therefore have the opportunity to choose a funding stream aligned with your interests and expertise, collaborating closely with our General Manager, our board and our communication expert to design and execute the strategy.

Here are some potential funding streams to consider:

• Grants: funding from foundations, public or private sector entities.

• Donations: financial contributions from individuals or organizations through various channels (e.g. crowdfunding, Christmas campaigns, Google Ads, SEO, Social Media Marketing).

• Corporate Partnerships: mutually benefical relationships with businesses to secure sponsorship or other forms of support.

• Fundraising Events: Organizing and executing events to raise funds and awareness for our cause.

• Social Business Ventures: Exploring entrepreneurial ventures with a social impact focus to generate revenue for our organization.

While specific responsibilities and required skills may vary depending on the chosen funding stream, below are some examples that are applicable across many streams. In any case, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our support base and enabling greater impact in our community.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of or within your designated funding stream

Formulate a strategy for your stream and implement it effectively together with the General Manager.

• Establish and cultivate a robust funnel, continuously feeding and nurturing it for sustained growth.

• Generate compelling content tailored to the audience of your stream – can be text or visual – in collaboration with our future communication expert.

• Engage in networking and relationship management activities with partners to foster collaborative opportunities and support for our objectives.

• Develop and deploy solutions to increase the scalability of the stream.

• Monitor and evaluate measures and outcomes and adapt strategy and plan accordingly.

Required Skills:

• Ability and mindset to sell our mission and find support, more concretely:

• Ability to define and understand your target group to tailor outreach strategies effectively.

• Skills in researching and assessing potential supporters, partners, and funding opportunities.

• Crafting compelling messaging and content, visual and/or written formats

• Project Management - overseeing and executing initiatives from start to finish, ensuring timely delivery and quality results.

• Ability to understand, develop, and adapt campaign strategies based on internal resources and external needs.

• Proficiency in building and implementing processes to streamline

workflows.

• Analytical capabilities to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of

campaigns and initiatives, deriving actionable insights for improvement.

Team Collaboration: While you can choose to take on a more supportive role, you also have the opportunity to own your own funding stream and take the lead. In any case, you won't be alone you’ll collaborate closely with our General Manager, receiving support, feedback, and guidance to help you succeed.

Your Opportunity: This role presents an excellent opportunity for personal and professional growth. You'll have the autonomy to develop and implement your ideas from day one, building your skills and portfolio along the way. Additionally, you'll be making a real impact and become part of our journey as we evolve from a small, voluntary NGO to a more professional and mature social impact organization.

The Importance of the Role: Finding supporters and raising funds is crucial to our organization's success. Only with sufficient and diversified support FFWU can sustainably work as an organization and deliver consistent and reliable support to our partners and ultimately the people in need.

Location: Fully remote position.

Workload: Highly depended on your role and tasks, but we estimate a minimum commitment of 2-4 hours per week to be required.

Salary: This is a voluntary position. However, as our organization grows and secures additional funding, opportunities for compensation may arise, with your fundraising efforts playing a key role in that journey.

Company Culture and Values:

• Ubuntu Philosophy: At FFWU, we believe in the Southern African principle of UBUNTU often translated to “I am because we are” and meaning that all human beings are connected and shall support each other. This is why we do what we do.

• Authenticity: Our communication style is honest, authentic, and celebratory, highlighting the resilience and achievements of the people and communities we serve.

• Transparency: We value transparency in all aspects of our organization, from financial matters to our journey, successes, and challenges.

If you resonate with our values and are passionate about using your skills to support our mission and drive positive change, we encourage you to apply and be part of our impactful journey.
