Module Responsibilities

Jean Monnet Courses

Jean Monnet signing

The Jean Monnet Chair promotes a deeper understanding of the European Union through the Jean Monnet Lectures on Sport Politics. This lecture series brings together distinguished speakers from academia, politics, and the sport sector in Germany and abroad, alongside experts from the German Sport University Cologne, to discuss current issues at the intersection of sport and politics. Topics include sport policy, sport in national and regional contexts, and the opportunities and challenges associated with major sporting events.

The Jean Monnet Lectures on Sport Politics are offered both as guest lectures within existing degree programmes and as a dedicated lecture series held each winter semester. They provide students with valuable insights into current developments, encourage dialogue with leading experts and practitioners, and foster a critical understanding of contemporary issues in sport politics from both academic and practical perspectives.

We warmly invite students, colleagues, and all those interested in sport and politics to attend the lectures and take part in the discussions.
