The German Sport University Cologne collaborates with universities, research institutions, and organizations around the world. International perspectives are an integral part of its academic programs, teaching, and research—ranging from joint degree programs to global research projects.

The German Sport University Cologne is connected to 65 partner universities worldwide. This network opens up a wide range of opportunities for our faculty and students. As the only sports university in Germany, the German Sport University Cologne leverages its international focus to promote exchange and collaboration across national borders. Structured exchange programs and scholarship-funded opportunities are available for this purpose.

Studying abroad

A semester abroad or an internship abroad offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience, learn about new cultures, and build international connections. The German Sport University Cologne supports its students in this endeavor with numerous exchange and funding opportunities. We currently collaborate with 65 partner universities worldwide and enable our bachelor’s, master’s, and teacher education students to study abroad through scholarship-funded programs. 

Study at our university

The German Sport University Cologne is a popular destination for international students from around the world. Whether for a full-time degree program, an exchange semester, or as a visiting student, the diverse range of programs offers numerous opportunities. In addition to teacher training, the university offers five bachelor’s degree programs in sports science, nine consecutive master’s degree programs, and a doctoral program. The academic offerings include programs taught in both German and English.

Teaching and Research Abroad

The German Sport University Cologne supports its faculty, researchers, and administrative staff in pursuing international training and professional development opportunities abroad. As part of its staff mobility program, faculty and staff can teach, observe classes, or participate in professional development activities at European partner universities. The goal is to gain international experience, strengthen professional exchange, and expand cooperation with partner institutions. International research collaborations help strengthen interdisciplinary sports science and promote continuous exchange in research and knowledge transfer.
