Transfers & Networks
We view knowledge transfer as an active dialogue between academia and society. Our research often emerges from exchanges with sports organizations, educational institutions, policymakers, and the general public. Findings from our projects feed back into practice, teaching, and public discourse, and experiences from these fields, in turn, shape our research questions.
Partnerships and Networks
Our department collaborates with international, national, and regional sports organizations, including national governing bodies, state sports associations, coach training institutions, and schools. The goal of these collaborations is to develop evidence-based recommendations for action and to provide scientific support for change processes in organized sports and educational institutions.

Transfer in Education
Our courses are closely linked to current research projects. Students collaborate with partners in the field, analyze real-world problems in organized sports, and develop solutions based on scientific principles. In this way, students gain hands-on experience with knowledge transfer even while they are still in school.
As part of our courses in the master’s program, students regularly produce a podcast on current topics in the sociology of sport. The episodes address societal developments in sport and combine academic perspectives with insights from the field. The podcast offers insights into the methodology of the sociology of sport and makes research accessible to a broader audience.
