Definition

Fluoxetine (the active ingredient in Prozac® and Fluctin®, for example) is an antidepressant. It belongs to the group of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). In 1975, the pharmaceutical company Lilly received a patent for fluoxetine. It is available in capsules, tablets, or solution in the form of its hydrochloride. 

Fluoxetine is used medically to treat depressive disorders and bulimia.

Significance as a Doping Agent

According to current anti-doping regulations, fluoxetine is not a prohibited substance
