To study at the German Sport University Cologne, you will need a University entrance qualification and to have passed a physical aptitude test.
If you have a disability or a chronic illness, you can find out about individual support options even before taking the physical aptitude test. This will allow you to clarify at an early stage which conditions are relevant to you.
We want you to be able to shape your studies as independently and successfully as possible. That is why we support you even before you start your studies and, if necessary, accompany you throughout your entire course.
Prospective students with a disability are generally subject to the standard application procedure. In addition, you must submit appropriate supporting documentation (e.g. a disability card or a certificate from the benefits office) when applying.
If your disability is officially accredited and you fail the Physical aptitude test as a result of this disability, your situation will be assessed on a case-by-case basis through a special procedure. The aim is to determine whether you nevertheless meet the requirements for successfully completing a degree in sport.
The Rector’s Delegate for Students with Disabilities, Prof. Dr Thomas Abel, and the examiners for the five sports disciplines involved in the Physical aptitude test will take part in this assessment.
In some cases, the results of the Physical aptitude test will be valid exclusively for a degree programme at the German Sport University Cologne. You will be informed of this once the procedure has been completed. The exact details of the procedure are determined by the Rector’s Office.
A sports degree at GSU is practice-oriented and includes numerous practical sports modules. It may therefore be helpful to familiarise yourself with the programme’s requirements before applying.
We’d be happy to help you clarify any questions you may have and work with you to explore the opportunities and prospects available to you.
