Psychological counselling for students

Studying can be challenging. The Psychological Counselling Service supports students with personal and study-related stress and helps them develop individual coping strategies.

Topics covered in counselling may include:

  • Stress and pressure during your studies
  • Exam anxiety
  • Organising study and work
  • Motivation and self-management
  • Personal crises and challenges

The aim of counselling is to address individual concerns, offer appropriate support and empower students to cope with challenges and crisis situations independently.

Diagnosis and treatment – the outpatient clinic’s mission statement

Drawing on findings from sport science and sports medicine derived from teaching and research, we treat our patients primarily using manual and non-invasive techniques, combined with state-of-the-art technological methods.

Not all conditions can be treated within our outpatient clinic. We therefore work closely with an interdisciplinary network of medical and physiotherapy partners. Through regular professional consultation, diagnosis, treatment and training plans can be optimally coordinated. This enables us to provide you with the best possible support, even in the case of more complex injuries and conditions.

Our services are primarily aimed at students and staff at the German Sport University Cologne. At the same time, we also treat external patients as well as athletes of all performance levels.

Our overarching principle is to take preventive measures against injuries or, in the event of injuries and overuse injuries, to avoid the trauma of surgery. To achieve this, it is often essential that those seeking advice commit to conservative treatment measures, behavioural changes, adjustments to working habits and conditions, and even lifestyle changes.

Thorough diagnosis and personalised advice take time. That is why we set aside sufficient time during our consultations to take a holistic view of your symptoms, identify the causes and discuss suitable treatment options with you.

Our aim is to provide you with the best possible support on your journey back to health, resilience and physical activity.
