Sometimes, university life presents challenges that go beyond lectures, exams and deadlines. Whether it’s family, care responsibilities or difficult personal circumstances – the German Sport University Cologne is here to support you with a range of support services and resources. Simply select the situation that applies to you.


Pregnancy brings many changes – including to your studies. Family Services can help you plan your studies during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding, and provide information on topics such as maternity leave, measures to compensate for disadvantages, and options for tailoring your studies to your individual circumstances. The German Sport University Cologne supports student parents in balancing their studies with family life. Depending on your situation, you may, for example, benefit from priority course enrolment, a semester’s leave of absence or discounted holiday childcare for your children. In addition, Family Services offers advice, opportunities to connect with other student parents and regular updates via the parents’ mailing list. Click here for the latest information and offers.


If, alongside your studies, you are caring for relatives or regularly taking on care responsibilities, Family Services can help you balance your studies with your care commitments. During a personal consultation, we can discuss suitable solutions and support options together.


The German Sport University Cologne is actively committed to fostering a community characterised by respect and appreciation amongst all members of the university, and firmly rejects any form of interpersonal violence. If you have experienced discrimination or unfair treatment, or if you are unsure how to deal with a situation, you can contact the Equal Opportunities Officer in confidence. She will listen to you, offer confidential advice on your options and, if you wish, support you in taking any further steps.


Bullying, sexual harassment and abuse of power have no place at the German Sport University Cologne.
