Synthetic anabolic steroids

Synthetic anabolic steroids are essentially derived from testosterone.

Synthetic steroid hormones can be produced by chemically modifying the testosterone molecule or its precursors.

The structural formulas of the anabolic steroids most frequently misused over the last 20 years, including testosterone, are shown in Fig. 3.
