Sports Nutrition

Athletes have specific nutritional needs. Through tailored nutritional strategies, they can influence their mental and physical performance. It is important to note that athletes do not constitute a homogeneous group but differ in numerous factors (e.g., body weight, height, body composition, training content, duration, intensity, annual planning, etc.) that influence their energy and nutrient requirements.

Therefore, there is no single “dietary plan” that works for all athletes. Rather, a sport-specific and individualized approach to nutrition—as well as to the use of dietary supplements—is recommended.
The Sports Nutrition Division at the Institute of Biochemistry has been addressing various issues in the field of sports nutrition since 2006. Through this website, we aim to provide information about our team, our research projects, and our services and consulting offerings in the field of sports and nutrition.
