Forum Sport Politics

(Kopie 2)

The Sport Politics Forum supports the research work of the Institute for European Sports Development and Leisure Research (IESF) in the field of sports policy.

It acts as an advisory body in which

  • the IESF’s past research activities in the field of sport policy are reviewed
  • future activities of the IESF in the field of sports policy research are initiated
  • input is provided on the content of upcoming events, projects and publications

Through intensive dialogue with external experts, issues can be examined from the perspectives of various stakeholders, and a wide range of sport policy topics can be brought to the fore. Both of these factors contribute significantly not only to raising the Institute’s profile in the field of sports policy, but also to establishing sports policy more generally as an independent field of research and scholarship.
The key academic event is the annual symposium on sports policy.

Sport Politics Symposia

The Sport Politics Symposia have been held annually since 2009. The symposium supports the process of differentiation and institutionalisation of sports policy studies as an independent academic discipline. The events aim both to take stock of existing research in the field of sport policy and to develop perspectives for future sport policy.

The symposium brings together sports scientists, academics specialising in political science, researchers from other disciplines, and experts from the field of sports policy. The symposia, organised primarily by the Institute for European Sport Development and Leisure Research, each focus on a core theme with fundamental or topical relevance.
