The event will cover the basic movements involved in alternative winter
adventure sports, such as snowshoeing and its associated risk management,
as well as playful snow-based activities for children and adults that incorporate
various snow sports equipment.
Yes, you will need your own equipment: winter-appropriate
mountaineering clothing and mountaineering boots or hiking boots. Your instructors will discuss with you during
a preparatory session what you should keep in mind when purchasing the necessary gear. If you
already own mountaineering gear or are able to borrow some, please
bring it with you to the first session.
The course is offered as a field trip during the break between semesters. There are also
mandatory preparatory sessions at the beginning of the semester. Please check the LSF at the start of the first
registration period for the exact
dates and locations of the field trips.
The course is offered only during the winter semester.
Yes, there are additional costs associated with this course (field trip fees). All
information regarding the nature and amount of these costs will be available in the course description in the LSF at the start of the first
registration period and will be communicated by
the instructor during the first class session.
No, purchasing a license is not part of this event.
Successful completion of the course requires both a written exam (with open-ended questions / “essay-style
exam”) and a practical exam. The practical exam is conducted as an
individual performance (LVS course). You will receive more detailed information about the exams from your
instructors during the course.
