FIS, ORCID & Co.: Enter your data once – use it multiple times

Online workshop. Showcasing one’s own academic achievements is crucial for one’s career, networking and grant applications.

At the DSHS in Cologne, the Research Information System (FIS) serves as the database underpinning our research portal. In addition, there are university-independent platforms such as ORCID, which are linked to many other systems (e.g. publishers/journals, repositories, funding organisations, databases).

In this workshop, we will take a practical look at how data exchange between FIS, ORCID and other platforms works:

  • What information can be transferred (e.g. publications, projects, research activities/services)?
  • What needs to be maintained where, and what can be automated?
  • Which settings/workflows ensure that data remains consistent and does not need to be maintained in duplicate?

We’ll test this directly on your own profiles and explain how you can improve your academic visibility with as little effort as possible.
