The indoor hockey arena at the Hockey-Judo Center and the artificial turf hockey field on Salzburgerweg are used by the DSHS for teaching and research purposes in the field of hockey. The German Hockey Federation conducts training camps there with its national teams. The West German Hockey Association uses these excellently equipped sports facilities to train its association teams. In addition, DHB coach training courses for all license levels are held there.
Basketball classes are held in Hall 22 in the North Halls and in Hall 8 near the swimming center. Both halls are equipped with an official FIBA court, including baskets. In addition, each hall has six side baskets, which allow for play on six smaller courts. In addition, both halls are equipped with a wide variety of men’s and women’s basketballs. For instructional purposes, dribbling balls, dribbling cones, agility ladders, and other training aids are available.
The LFG Handball program uses triple-purpose gyms 8 and 22 as facilities for teaching and research. During the summer semester, beach handball training takes place at the Playa.
Both halls feature a handball court (20m x 40m). However, the equipment available in the gyms also allows for the organization of alternative game formats (street handball, mini handball), for which the appropriate playing fields can be set up using the available materials (including mats, benches, floor markers, cones, and poles). Both halls are equipped with an appropriate number of different types of balls (indoor, soft, beach, and street handball balls). The bleachers in Hall 22 allow for video recordings (for teaching and research) even from higher vantage points and provide ample space for spectators during student competitions (New Year’s Tournament).
During the summer semester, the beach courts at the Playa offer students the opportunity to get acquainted with the sport of beach handball, albeit on a slightly smaller field (10m x 25m).
Table tennis courses (for bachelor's, master's, and teacher education students) are held in Hall 10 every semester. In addition, practical research in the field of "table tennis" is conducted here.
As a foundation for all sports, athletes need cross-sport game skills. Research and instruction on how to develop these skills in an ideal way are conducted in Hall 9 at the University of Sports. Based on the latest research, this sports facility helps students in all degree programs understand the importance of play for developmentally appropriate skill acquisition. To this end, Hall 9 is equipped with a wide range of equipment and materials that allow students to learn about and teach a variety of alternative sports games, as well as to create new game ideas.
