The Project

The 2nd National Baseline Study on Winter Sports in Germany 2018 provides a representative overview of key aspects of the winter sports market in Germany and its significance for sports tourism in Germany’s low mountain range regions and as a source market for the Alpine region.

Using a comprehensive research approach, extensive data was collected that allows for conclusions regarding winter sports behavior, sociodemographics, travel planning, typology, needs, and winter sports potential among the general German population. The study is based on a combination of two representative survey methods. First, “Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviews” (CATI) were conducted with 2,000 respondents. The second survey was carried out via an online panel with a sample size of 3,000 winter sports enthusiasts.
